Sasha the Witch, Sasha the Witch

In a world of magic, witches have their power controlled by human law. Their coven is their refuge. When a witch has conflict within her coven, her entire world threatens to crumble. Leigh Bardugo's Ninth House meets The Craft in this contemporary fantasy novel about magic in a society that both desires and rejects it. Sasha Hoffman is a young witch living in small town New York. Haunted by a tumultuous past and avoided by her neighbors, she passes the days drinking with friends-or by herself. When she and her best friend Courtney become part of a coven, she must accept another witch into her life. Sasha finally has a community where she belongs, but caring for others is a delicate proposition as she has a tendency to hurt or be hurt by those she lets close. Relationships begin to shift as old acquaintances reappear and a long-time enemy stirs up trouble for her coven. Sasha wants to find happiness in the new shapes of her life, but as she attempts to move into the future, the past threatens to drag her back. Meanwhile, she's not the only witch facing disappoints and threats. Can any witch find happiness in a society that binds them? Can her friendships buoy her, or will she get lost in the bottom of the bottle?
