The Dark Side Of The Moon« is Pink Floyd's eighth longplayer. The album was originally released on March 24, 1973. The recordings took place between June 1972 and January 1973 at London's legendary Abbey Road Studios.

The concept album is Pink Floyd's most successful record. She stayed in the international charts for several years and has sold over 50 million copies to date. London, 19 January 2023 – It is one of the most iconic, influential and best-selling albums of all time: »The Dark Side Of The Moon«.

On March 24, it will be exactly 50 years to the day since Pink Floyd released their groundbreaking work in Germany (March 1 in the USA / March 16 in the UK). This special date will be celebrated with the release of a new deluxe box set, which will be released by Warner Music on March 24, 2023.

»The Dark Side Of The Moon« has lost none of its popularity to this day and continues to fascinate new generations of listeners: inside. Pink Floyd developed the album partly as part of their live performances, which led to an early version of the suite having its live premiere at London's Rainbow Theatre a few months before studio recording began. »The Dark Side Of The Moon» is the eighth studio album by Pink Floyd and was recorded in 1972 and 1973 at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road Studios) in London. The iconic record cover, on which a white beam of light refracts in a prism in the spectral colors, was designed by Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis and drawn by George Hardie. »The Dark Side Of The Moon« has sold over 50 million copies worldwide.

The new deluxe boxset includes the CD and flip cover vinyl of the 2023 remastered studio album, as well as a Blu-Ray + DVD with the original 5.1 mix and remastered stereo versions. On another new Blu-Ray there is an Atmos mix of the album, plus CD and LP versions of »The Dark Side Of The Moon - Live At Wembley Empire Pool, London, 1974«. A complete overview of all configurations can be found below.

»The Dark Side Of The Moon - Live At Wembley Empire Pool, London, 1974« will also be available separately on CD from 24 March and for the first time ever on vinyl. The live recording was made in November 1974 as part of the band's winter tour and is now available for the first time as an independent album. The cover shows a line drawing created by George Hardie in 1973.

Fans of high-quality coffee table books can also look forward to the release of an accompanying volume curated by photographer Jill Furmanovsky, curated by Hipgnosis co-founder Aubrey Powell as art director and designed with the participation of the band members. The book is published in LP format and shows rare and previously unpublished photos taken during the »Dark Side Of The Moon« tours from 1972 to 1975. A review of the Wembley concert from October 1972 published in Melody Maker also offers an insight into one of Pink Floyd Floyd's most famous performances, plus a complete list of tour dates. The book »Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon: 50th Anniversary« will also be available from March 2023 and will be published via Thames &; Hudson.

Not only through the iconic Prisma cover you know: Pink Floyd have always been a visual groundbreaking band. For the 50th anniversary of »The Dark Side Of The Moon», the band invites a new generation of animators to a special competition: to create new music videos for each of the 10 songs of the iconic album. The band has worked with animators (including Emes, Gerald Scarfe) since the beginning of their career, and in some cases the visual background music of the songs has become as legendary as the music itself. The 50th anniversary will continue this tradition.

On February 27, 1973, EMI Records held a press conference at the London Planetarium, where Pink Floyd's new album »The Dark Side Of The Moon« was presented to the world for the first time. Although the dome of the planetarium could only show a selection of stars, constellations and cosmic shots to the sounds of music, the event was a resounding success. Fifty years later, technology has made huge advances. So you can prepare yourself for great things when you go to the planetarium once again to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this iconic album. And not just in London this time: planetariums around the world open their doors for a 42-minute dome experience with breathtaking images of the solar system and beyond, accompanied by the sounds of »The Dark Side Of The Moon«. Further details on the screening can be obtained from the local planetariums.

You can look forward to a presentation that is chronologically divided into ten parts, analogous to the album titles. Each part has a different main theme – some futuristic, others a retro reference to the visual history of Pink Floyd. What all parts have in common is that they revolve around an experience of time and space, taking advantage of the latest technologies that only a planetarium can offer. »The Dark Side Of The Moon« at the planetarium is an immersive experience, an all-encompassing surround sound and visual delight that leaves reality (and the 2D experience) far behind for 42 precious minutes.

Vinyyliäänilevyjen suosio ja myynti on kasvanut viime vuosina musiikin harrastajien ja keräilijöiden keskuudessa. Vuoden 1991 tienoilla cd-levyt alkoivat yleistyä ja levymarkkinat supistuivat, joten vinyylilevyjä alettiin tuottaa aiempaa pienempiä eriä. Vuodesta 2017 lähtien koko maailmassa on ollut vain 48 vinyylejä prässäävää tehdasta, joten ’vanhoja’ vinyylilevyjä pidetään nykyään jopa arvokkaina vintage-antiikkiesineinä.
